Classification Requirements

ADCI CLASSIFICATIONS


New applicants must submit a certificate of completion from a formally accredited commercial dive school demonstrating successful completion of at least 625 documented hours of formal instruction in accordance with the ANSI/ACDE-01-2015 Standards, or a recognized equivalent. This training must include coverage of all required subjects as specified in the ANSI standard and comply with 29 CFR and 46 CFR regulations applicable to commercial diving operations.
 



ENTRY LEVEL

AIR DIVER

Must provide documented proof (logbook entries) of 30 completed working dives to meet the Air Diver criteria.

Only surface-supplied dives qualify toward this requirement.

  1. Completed at least 100 field days as an air diver.
  2. Completed at least 30 working dives as an air diver.
 
AIR DIVING SUPERVISOR

Online Exams Required

Must provide documented proof (logbook entries) of 50 completed working dives to meet the Air Diving Supervisor qualification criteria.

A working dive refers to an actual job-related dive (not a training dive) performed using surface-supplied air. You must have 50 logged dives, each signed off by a supervisor or diving officer.

These logs serve as evidence of your experience for certification or upgrade purposes.
  1. Successfully passed the ADCI Air Diving supervisor certification examination.
  2. Completed at least 200 field days as an air diver.
  3. Completed at least 50 working dives as an air diver.
  4. Completed 30 working days as an Assistant Supervisor in the training field.
 
MIXED-GAS DIVER

Must provide documented proof (logbook entries) of 50 Air working dives and 10 Mixed-Gas He02 dives to meet the Mixed-Gas qualification criteria.

A working dive refers to an actual job-related dive (not a training dive) performed using surface-supplied air. You must have 50 Air logged dives, and 10 Mixed-Gas logged dives, each signed off by a supervisor or diving officer. These logs serve as evidence of your experience for certification or upgrade purposes.

This type of card will be issued by ADCI to certified HeO2/MIXED-GAS divers who have:
  1. Completed at least 100 Air and 50 Mixed-Gas field days.
  2. Completed at least 50 Air and 10 Mixed-Gas working dives.
 
MIXED-GAS DIVING SUPERVISOR

Online Exam Required

This type of card will be issued by ADCI to certified mixed-gas divers who have:
  1. Successfully passed the ADCI HeO2/mixed-gas diving supervisor certification examination.
  2. Completed at least 350 field days as an air or mixed-gas diver.
  3. Completed at least 150  Air or Mixed-Gas working dives.
  4. Completed at least 30 working days as an assistant mixed-gas diving supervisor.
 
BELL/SAT DIVER

This type of card will be issued by ADCI to certified divers who have:
  1. Completed at least 200 field days as an air or mixed-gas diver.
  2. Completed at least 100  Air or Mixed-Gas working dives and 10 Bell runs.
  3. Performed for at least 30 working days in support of bell/saturation diving operations.
  4. Performed at least 10 bell runs.
 
BELL/SAT DIVING SUPERVISOR

Online Exam Required

This type of card will be issued by ADCI to certified divers who have:
  1. Successfully completed the ADCI bell/saturation diving supervisor certification examination.
  2. Completed at least 100 field days as a mixed-gas diving supervisor.
  3. Performed for at least 60 days as an assistant bell/saturation diving supervisor.
 
LIFE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Online Exam Required

This type of card will be issued by ADCI to individuals who have:
  1. Successful completion of the ADCI life support technician exam.
  2. Performed at least 100 field days as an assistant life support technician.
